Pantone has chosen The Color of the Year for a landmark 25th time, as of this year. Kudos to them, for being the authority on what’s trending in the world of home decor palettes for a quarter of a century!

For this silver anniversary, the design-minds at The Pantone Color Institute have selected the sweet, understated hue, Peach Fuzz. According to their website, “Peach Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It’s a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.”

A cozy color somewhere between orange and pink, Peach Fuzz seeks to both comfort and unify. In our crazy and divided world, who would argue that we couldn’t benefit from something that unifies and brings comfort and peace? While a paint color can’t change the world, Peach Fuzz reminds us that inner self-nurturing is as, if not more, important than what’s going on outside. Also from the Pantone website: “Recalibrating our priorities to align with our internal values, we are focusing on health and wellbeing, both mental and physical, and cherishing what’s special — the warmth and comfort of spending time with friends and family, or simply taking a moment of time to ourselves.”

So how do we go about using this soft, sensual color in our homes and decor? One of the simplest ways is, of course, to paint the walls Peach Fuzz, which promises to imbue the space with a quiet calm. Imagine soft Peach Fuzz wall, and a beautiful, rustic pine table set with simple, earthy placemats and natural tableware, ready for an intimate candlelit dinner with close friends or that special someone. Or a powder room escape, accented with sea shells and coral, that takes you on vacation, if only for a few moments.
